Chromite with a  Cr2O3-content >40% (cf. chemical data) is used for the production of refractory bricks as well as for furnace linings. It also finds application as temperature-loadable moulding sand (chromium ore sand) and in powdered form as a refractory filler in foundry mould- and core coatings.
