Magnesite (magnesium carbonate) is the basic material for the production of magnesia bricks and mixtures. By heating on 400-600°C it disintegrates into magnesium oxide (magnesia, periclase) and carbon dioxide without melting. Chemical data for magnesite are published on the next page.
